Dear Birthparents,
You probably never expected to be in this situation— we didn’t either. Even though we don’t know who you are, we’ve been praying for you and your child. If you choose us, we stand ready to accept your child with open arms and thankful hearts.
Who are we? We’re Tina and Matt and we’re high school sweethearts. We’ve been happily married for more than 12 years. We’re both Colorado natives and attended Catholic schools. Matt is the oldest of 3 boys and Tina is the youngest girl in a family of 10 children! Tina used to work at a blood bank and is now a stay-at-home Mom, while Matt is a TV producer/director for a local television production company.
Who is the little guy? That’s Joseph William. He is our son and our greatest blessing! He’s now 3 and he has a gigantic vocabulary and the best laugh in the whole world. He loves trains (both real and Thomas the Tank Engine), all the characters from the movie Cars, Christmas lights, baseball, the zoo, and all his cousins (he has 13 right now, but the number just keeps getting higher.)
After we tried very hard to have our own biological children, God showered us with blessings when we adopted Joseph. We couldn’t be prouder of him and we are so proud of how he came to be our son—through open adoption.
What is our life like? We spend lots of time with our big family here in the Denver area, including camping and Rockies games. We have three cats, we make lots of toy train layouts at home with Joseph and we enjoy Friday night family movies. We attend Mass regularly and are active in our parish. Tina loves to bake, cook and make creative gifts (sometimes even sewing.) She also enjoys playing the piano. Matt plays the guitar and messes around with a few other instruments including the banjo. We also play on a coed volleyball team together every week. We love to travel and are super excited about planning Joseph’s first trip to Disney World—we can’t wait to take him.
So what’s missing? We’re very happy as a threesome, but we’ve always wanted a bigger family. We ask Joseph if he wants a brother or sister and he says: “Okay!!!” We are ready to bring another child into our home—to take care of, to teach, to love and to be amazed at! Having Joseph and meeting his birth family has been such a powerful expression of God’s love that we are ready to do it again!
Will my child know who I am? Definitely. We want your child to know where he or she came from and to know that your adoption decision was the ultimate act of love. If you choose us, we promise to spend the rest of our lives honoring that choice and raising your baby in love and faithfulness. The bravery and love you’ve shown will surely be a part of your child’s life forever.
In Peace and Love,
Matt, Tina & Joseph
